Tandem People Partners was founded by two senior people leaders who have spent their careers inside growing organisations, building, fixing, and evolving the systems that carry companies through scale.
We didn’t start Tandem to “deliver HR.”
We started it because we’ve seen, repeatedly, where growth slows, leadership stretches, and momentum quietly erodes when people systems stop keeping pace with the business.
Tandem exists to bring experienced judgment into those moments, before friction becomes failure.
Renee Thompson
Founder, Managing Partner
Renee has spent nearly two decades doing the same thing in different organizations- walking into people functions breaking under the weight of growth and rebuilding them while the business kept growing.
Her career has taken her from early stage startups to global multinationals, across government services, technology, food delivery, and nonprofits, among others. In every case, the work has been the same in its essentials: rapid diagnosis of what’s actually slowing the business down, strategic redesign of the systems underneath it, and implementation that delivers measurable outcomes without adding unnecessary complexity. That work has directly contributed to measurable outcomes like 112% annual revenue growth, and a 20% reduction in labour costs, achieved in succession, in a complex, high-growth environment where there was zero margin for getting it wrong.
Renee is particularly experienced in the moments that define whether a scaling company gets easier or harder to run- leadership infrastructure that hasn’t kept pace with headcount, management layers that were promoted faster than they were developed, and HR functions so consumed with reactive hiring that the strategic layer never gets built.
She brings calm, precise judgement to high-pressure situations and a consistent orientation towards business outcome over traditional HR process.
